What people are saying about this product:
"I followed the instructions on seasoning the cast iron and I followed normal cooking instructions by heating the cast iron before putting my sandwich in it. I heated it for 2 minutes on each side, and cooked the sandwich for about the same and it was perfect. I used canola oil to season the iron and pam spray for cooking. I look forward to using it again.
I opted for this one because normal pudgie/hobo pie irons are barely big enough for a slice of wonder bread, and I wanted more food without having to make multiple sandwiches. I am very happy with making this decision. The iron fits a six inch hoagie/sub roll very well and cooks it exceptionally. I would recommend this for a cuban style sandwich especially.
The handles remove well for traveling, and they have a little widget that keeps the handles together while cooking." - Beau P.
"I use this panini press to make sandwiches on the camp chef grill, open fire and stove top. Makes perfect panini sandwiches and adds some fun to the process for the entire family. Great times to be had when you make dinner - custom sandwiches with the family. The only issue I have with Rome products is the amount of work necessary to season the irons before use. No doubt that the irons will last two lifetimes after a proper seasoning and some minor upkeep. Do your self a favor and buy a few of the pie irons, good food and fun times as a family." -Glen T.
"My best buy! Breads don't stick and I have never had a messy panini out of this press. Each panini takes about 1.5 minutes (45 seconds each side once you have it preheated).
If at all I have any complaints, that would be:
1. the latch that keeps slipping down to the mold. I wish the ridge in the middle was slightly bigger to prevent the hook from dropping all the way down. I might be able to have a creative hack - perhaps just tie a wire.
2. the width is a bit on the narrow side - I feel 1/2" extra would let the store bought breads sit comfortably.
Both of the above not a big deal. Very satisfied in general and would highly highly recommend to anyone on the fence about this one." -Nancy R.
